The Gwydyr Fishery History.
The land and rivers around Betws-y-Coed in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park are owned by the ancient Gwydyr Estate who lease fishing rights to various bodies for the renowned Salmon and Sea Trout fishing on their estate.
The Gwydyr Fishery has been run by the propieters of the Gwydyr Hotel for over 150 years until a change in ownership has required the fishery to be managed by the Betws-y-Coed Angling Club .
The Gwydyr Fishery comprises 2 beats on the Conwy. A lower beat of 2.0 miles from the confluence of the Llugwy and Conwy rivers , and an upper beat of 1.0 miles from above the Waterloo Bridge to the confluence of the Conwy with the Afon Lledr. It also includes 2.0 miles of water on the lower reaches of the Afon Lledr. Salmon and Sea Trout are caught on these waters.
